Before Kennels & K9s was helping families navigate puppyhood, behavioral challenges, and trusted pet care, there was Bourbon.
More than a beloved companion, Bourbon was Brandy's working partner as part of an explosive detection team responsible for securing public events and helping verify cargo before it was loaded onto aircraft. Their work demanded unwavering trust, clear communication, and the ability to read one another in every situation. Success wasn't built on fear or force—it was built on partnership.
That experience forever shaped the way Brandy understands dogs.
She learned that every behavior tells a story, every dog communicates differently, and the strongest relationships are built through patience, consistency, and mutual trust. Those lessons became the foundation of Kennels & K9s.
Today, Brandy combines that professional experience with her certifications, ongoing education, and genuine love for animals to help pet parents throughout Hampton Roads build stronger, happier relationships with their companions.
